In the are of Cultural events are the various traditional festivals of which Odun Osun Osogbo and Odun Egungun are most prominent. Osogbo also served as a trade hub serving the northern and eastern parts of Nigeria
The Emergence of Osogbo school of Arts; Mbari Mbayo Club, club established for African writers, artists , and musicians at Ibadan and Osogbo in Nigeria. The first Mbari Club was founded in Ibadan in 1961 by a group of young writers with the help of Ulli Beier, a teacher at the University of Ibadan. Mbari, an Igbo(Ibo) word for "creation", refers to the traditional painted mud houses of the area, which must be renewed periodically. The Ibadan club operated an art gallery and theatre and published works by Nigerian artists and Black Orpheus, a journal of African and African American literature.
The Centre is celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Osogbo School of Art founded by late Ulli Bieir whose art works formed the nucleus of the Centre. You may wish to note that the Centre is proud to have two prominent students of this school in persons of Chief Jimoh Buraimoh and Chief Muraina Oyelami.
