Research Fellow
Abdulbasit Olalekan Abubakaris a Research Fellow at the Centre for Black Culture and International Understanding, a UNESCO Category II Institute located in Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria. He joined the services of the Centre in October, 2019. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and International Studies from Osun State University, Osogbo, and a and Masters of Arts degree from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, in 2016 and 2020 respectively. Abdulbasit is interested in researches bothering on African traditional Arts, Political and Social Institutions, Intergroup Relations, and Hometowns Associations. Some of his works around the aforesaid themes have been presented at learned Conferences and Seminars overtime.
HHe is also a regular guest speaker at academic events with crux on History, Culture and Arts of the African Peoples. Since January 2022, he has been coordinating the CBCIU bimonthly Seminar Series; an intellectual hub where scholars from various disciplines share and exchange ideas on various topics of interest to the Centre. Abdulbasit is currently a Doctoral Candidate at the Department of History and International Studies, Osun State University.
